By Spring 2021, we are planning to offer small group out of doors experiences, classes, and park tours to be hosted in primary partnerships with Bellingham Parks, WWU Recreation, and Woodstock Farm Conservancy.
Categories: Outdoor Recreation, Nature, History, and the Arts
Instructors: Recreation Northwest staff, interns, partners, volunteers, and contractors.
Learn the basics, more advanced, and technical skills for getting you and your family outdoors recreating responsibly. Urban walks, Hikes, Backpacking, Car Camping, Hammocking, Mountain Biking, Van Lifestyle, and so much more. You name it, we’ll teach it.
Our trained Nature Navigators will work to remove barriers with clients in order to get them outdoors to enjoy nature as a therapeutic tool. We envision allowing deserving people who qualify to attend our Education programs offerings with scholarships.
Imagine Park Tours with social and natural history narratives paying respect to indigenous Salish Sea tribes and telling the story of Bellingham’s Parks. Highlighting the larger milestones our city has experienced as we continue to value our parks & greenways, stewardship, local economy, and highlight the legacy of Cyrus Gates in relevant parks to weave the connections into one narrative thread.
Our partners at Woodstock Farm Conservancy will complement our History programming and education. As content creators, educators, and recreationists we can see authoring and publishing articles, books, and digital publications about the history of outdoor recreation, parks, business, and culture in Whatcom County.
Our partners at Woodstock Farm Conservancy will lead our Arts programming and education.
