Would you like to become more comfortable venturing out into the backcountry wilderness? Do you sometimes forget an item when going to a state park for a front country camping trip? Join your guide as you learn about all the pro tips, and skills to ensure you are prepared for your next camping trip. Come explore what essential items you should bring with you out into the backcountry.

Along with the skills to survive out in the wilderness which will include how to filter water, operate a stove, and yes take care of our bodily fluids!  

We as an organization are adhering to the latest scientific data and safety measures regarding Covid-19 in alignment with the local health department. With all this in mind, we acknowledge the benefits of getting outside in nature with respect to mental health.


Your Guide

Caleb Savage

Caleb originally hails from Massachusetts, however, he has been living in Washington since the winter of 2019. A recent resident of Bellingham, he has been immersed in the field of Environmental Education for the past 7-8 years. He has taught hands-on science inquiry-based lessons to all ages in a diverse range of ecosystems throughout the country. He has also led backpacking and whitewater rafting expeditions while helping his participants gain a sense of place. He has a passion for the local community, the environment, and encourages his participants to be present in the here and now when exploring the outdoors. When Caleb is not working you may find him exploring the wilderness around Mount Baker or the Chuckanuts, biking through Bellingham, going to see live music, and creating delicious food.
