About Us

We acknowledge that we gather on territory that has been the traditional and ancestral homeland to the Lhaq’temish (the Lummi people),  the Nooksack people,  and other Coast Salish tribes of this region Since Time Immemorial. We honor our shared responsibility to this land and these waters, we commit to learning from Indigenous wisdom,  and we strive to repair and deepen our relationships as neighbors and friends.

Recreation Northwest (RN). Founded on January 15, 2013, our foundation was built on the Bellingham Traverse multi-sport race and its’ expansion into the Northwest Traverse Series in Olympia, Winthrop and North Bend. See Our History for complete event portfolio and origin story.

We are Recreation Northwest

Mission: We teach the health benefits of nature, promote outdoor recreation, and steward the places where we play.

Strategic Plan: 2023 Recreation Northwest Strategic Plan This document is our guiding light for identifying our Goals and Objectives for the year. We assess needs in the outdoor recreation space and see where we can help as it lines up with our mission and plans.
