GBRC’s Short and Sweet Bellingham Trail Race Series – 5 K and 2.5 K

A Greater Bellingham Running Club race

A running event for the whole family

When: Thursday nights, 2.5K kids’ run at 6 p.m., 5K at 6:30. July 10 – Aug. 14

What: Thursday evening trail races for all ages and abilities. Bring the whole family to the inaugural season of these 2.5K and 5K weekly trail runs. This is a great way to try trail racing for the first time, introduce kids to the fun, or hone your speed with fellow runners. Nice spots for a post-run picnic of your own. No entry fee, no numbers. Start/finish line will be marked and timing device provided.

Where: Alternating between marked courses at Lake Padden and Whatcom Falls.

July 10 (Padden)

July 17 (Whatcom Falls)

July 24 (Padden)

July 31 (Whatcom Falls)

Aug. 7 (Padden)

Aug. 14 (Whatcom Falls)

Courses: 

Lake Padden (start near dog park): See 5K course and 2.5K course

Whatcom Falls Park (start at lower parking lot near playground on Silver Beach Rd.). See 5k course and 2.5K course

Registration: No entry fee, no registration required. Waiver required for first-time participants, available at start/finish area starting at 5:30 p.m.

Results: In keeping with the low-key nature of the races, a timing device will be provided at the finish. Runners can record their own times on clipboards after the race. Results will be posted on the GBRC results page.

NOTE: We need volunteers to help on the day of the races during the kids’ race. You would still be able to take part in the 5K. If you are able to help at any of the races, please contact Warren Cornwall at .

As executive director, he works to fulfill our mission to teach the health benefits of nature, promote outdoor recreation, and steward the places where we play.
