Parks RX & Earth Day Celebrations:
The National Parks Service is celebrating Park Prescription (ParkRx) Day and Earth Day on April 22, 2023 on the first day of National Park Week. You are invited to join in promoting the healing power of nature and protecting the planet for future generations on this special day.
ParkRx Day is a day for people to get out and celebrate the healing power of parks and the great outdoors and to show support for the growing ParkRx movement of healthcare providers referring patients to nature and parks for their health. The day is celebrated through a range of activities that can be self-led, ranger-led, community-led, and doctor-led to promote health and wellness benefits of parks.
Here are some ways you can get involved:Encourage your friends, family, and community members to participate in ParkRx Day by getting outside and connecting with nature – national parks are free this year on April 22 so everyone can get out and enjoy the great outdoors
Volunteer to join a park-led outdoor activity on Earth Day, such as a healthy hike, a walk with a doc, a park cleanup, tree planting.
Share your ParkRx Day experiences on social media with #ParkRxDay #YourParkStory #HealthyParksHealthyPeople. Start a formal ParkRx program in your community by visiting ParkRx.org and explore resources for creating a park prescription program.
Learn about the National Park Service’s Green Parks Plan and our commitment to sustainability Find more tips and tools for a healthy, active outdoor lifestyle on the CDC’s Active People Healthy Nation and HHS’s Move Your Way campaigns.
