Whatcom Water Trail – Coming Soon to Shorelines Near YOU

November 21, 2019 by Todd Elsworth Leave a Comment

Recreation Northwest and Board Member Kristi Kucera, Moondance Sea Kayak Adventures, have been working with the Gina Stark with the Port of Bellingham’s Regional Economic Development Team to create a promotional map showing off the access points along Whatcom County’s marine shoreline and freshwater lakes.

The map will be distributed by Bellingham/Whatcom County Tourism to show off what we have to offer as part of our Basecamp Bellingham outdoor recreation campaign. This is the first step in a longer process of working with all of our local landowners to identify key areas and work collectively towards improvements for our community and visitors. Draft Map:

This year we will continue to work with the public land owners that provide access to identify areas of need for improvement and safety. We hope to create Stewardship relations with the community to help identify and improve places of public access.

At the Paddle Film Festival on Friday, April 3rd at Bellingham Technical College, we will be looking for input from the community.
