Recreation Northwest hosted the event in partnership with City of Bellingham Parks & Recreation Department.

Summit Goal: Our goal was to coalesce public agency landowners to reinvigorate existing Coast Millennium Trail (CMT) plans and inspire a collective group effort to reimagine an updated plan. Our objective is to bring the people together with a vested interest and agency landowners to make a determination of an appropriate route for the coast trail that maximizes safety, makes logical connections, and takes advantage of other projects and multi-modal transportation improvements that are now underway.
Updating the trail plan includes incorporating cultural and maritime history, tourism wayfinding, and regional trail plans into an updated vision and route that can be signed for our visitors and residents of Whatcom County. The outcomes of the summit will be to create an updated map with recommendations on trail alignment and begin work on cultural heritage & trail wayfinding system.
Invitees: By invitation only for representatives of land owning/management agencies and trail enthusiasts who have a vested interest in Whatcom County’s regional trail plans: Bay to Baker & Coast Millennium Trail.
Confirmed: 2025 Summit Attendees.
